HFS will again be selling apple (and maybe a few plum) trees and scion over winter 2021.
We will be taking email orders from now until 15th August.
Subject to COVID considerations, we will also hold our annual sales and grafting demonstration day at Petty’s Orchard, on Sunday 1st August, 9 AM – Noon. Orders may be collected then or posted.
A list of varieties can be found at https://www.heritagefruitssociety.org/page-1860643 , however, due to variations in growth, there is no guarantee that any particular variety will have suitable scion available for purchase. If there is a specific variety that you are after, email us, and we can check our trees and let you know.
We can also graft apple trees with your chosen scion onto M26 or MM102 rootstock for collection/postage in Sept-Oct, once we are sure the graft has taken.
Newly grafted trees will be grafted onto M26 unless specified, as this is our regular rootstock for suburban trees.
In addition, we have some one-year-old trees on M26 rootstock for sale – see list below.
Prices:
Scion $3, each with at least 3 buds. Multiple scion of one type at a discount.
Newly grafted trees $15
One-year-old trees $25
We are happy to post within Victoria, and possibly other states (subject to biosecurity laws)
Postage extra on all posted items. Up to 6 scion $2.20. Other prices on application.
Grafting Workshops. We will be running grafting workshops in August again this year. These 3 hour sessions will be hands-on with plenty of time to practice. They also include learning the reasons why grafting is done and the science of grafting. Budding will be briefly discussed as winter is not the optimal time of year to bud trees. Your questions answered about different techniques, timing, anything! There is no cost to these workshops, however the third hour will be spent assisting the Heritage Fruits Society with grafting trees, including potting, labelling, etc. This immediate application of newly learned grafting skills from the first 2 hours will increase your confidence and success in grafting your own trees in future.
Please contact us at heritagefruitssociety@gmail.com to order or for any queries.
